Fine Art Relief Prints

Fine art relief prints are multiple originals.

Original relief prints should not be confused with lesser valued prints that one can readily purchase in department stores. Those types of prints are not considered original prints, but should rather be seen as mass produced [hundreds and hundreds of thousands] non-original copies of art.

The original relief prints [also referred to as: Block Prints, Linoleum Prints, Linocuts] that I create are all carved, hand printed and hand signed by me - the artist.

Usually for original fine art there will only be a limited number of prints in an edition. The maximum number in that edition is usually kept small. The smaller the number, generally speaking, the more valuable the print becomes.

The original prints that I offer will never be printed beyond a set limit of 100 total prints [which is relatively small] for each title. I do however aim to keep that limit much lower than 100.

Acid Free

The mats that I use are made from acid-free pulp and fade-resistant papers, these mats are designed to provide long lasting quality.

Acid-free pulp is a relatively new invention, meant for the purpose of preservation of documents and artwork. Paper that has not had its acidity neutralized contains lignin. The presence of lignin causes paper to yellow and deteriorate over time. When exposed to light and/or heat, acidic paper will break down even faster.

By matting my artwork with acid free mats I am helping to ensure the longevity of my collectors' investments in art.

Framing II Tape

Stronger and thinner than linen or paper tapes, this archival-grade, self-adhesive tape contains no harmful plasticizers. The moisture proof, non-porous film backing remains stable throughout.

Framer's Tape is easily removed with minimal heat [i.e. blow dryer] from most surfaces, leaving the article in its original state

Numbered

Each of my original prints are signed at least twice: once on the bottom left of the mat [along with the title and my signature], as well as again on the back of the print itself.

The numbering format will be as follows: print number / out of a total number of prints in that series. [please see: Series Number below]

for example. 1/5

would represent the first handmade print out of a total of 5 hand made prints in that series.

The original prints that I offer will never be printed beyond a set limit of 100 total prints per each titled print.

Series Number

The series number represents the set order in which a specific title of prints were printed.

For example:

S1 [Series 1] would include prints numbered 1-5, S2 [Series 2] would then include prints numbered 6-10, S3 [Series 3]
included prints 11-15 and so on.

The reasoning for using this method is as follows.

I do not believe in mass producing my prints all at once. Hand printing for me is a very connective and moving process. Therefore, I print them in small batches at a time and thusly label them by series and number on the back.

such as: 1/5 S1

|| Tip || The lower the series number and the lower the print number the more valuable the print typically is.

For example:

2/10 S1 would be more valuable as opposed to a 1/10 S5 print.

1/10 S1 would be more valuable then a 2/10 S1.  and so on.

Artist Stamp

In addition to the print number, series number, title, and signature on the back of my prints I also include a hand printed signature stamp.

Certificate of Authenticity

Fourteen states* require a Certificate of Authenticity, [COA], for the sale of fine art, multiples, fine prints, etc.

A COA is intended to protect my clients by providing pertinent information regarding the print: title, size, relevant dates, relevant id #'s, signature, etc.

I always make a COA for every print that I create, regardless of whether a client's state requires one or not, and I included one with every order in good faith. A copy of each certificate will be kept with my copy of the related invoice. In some states, reselling a print may require having its COA, please keep yours in a safe place.

This is basically what I provide:

Water-Soluble

Currently all of my relief prints are printed with water-soluble inks, which are nontoxic nonflammable pigments that clean up easily with soap and water.

Since these inks are water-soluble please do not touch the inked image or it will damage the integrity of your original artwork.

Water-soluble inked images are not recommended for display in areas of high humidity.

Please leave your unframed relief prints sealed in their clear protective envelopes until you are ready to frame them.

Monitors and Color of Art

Due to variations in monitors, actual artwork may vary slightly in color than what appears on your screen. I strive to depict my works as accurately as possible.

Insanely Strong Magnets

The magnets that I use to create my penny-back marble magnets  are seriously - insanely strong!

The magnets that I use  [neodymium-iron-boron] have a pulling strength of over 2,000 gauss.

Type A holds: 12 sheets of paper
Type B holds: 7 sheets of paper

Magnets with such a high gauss rating can break easily if you let them snap/smash together. These magnets however will not break when treated with care and stored properly.

|| Warning! || Magnets can destroy magnetic media and electronic devices such as: floppy disks, hard drives, computers, credit cards, monitors, VCR's, TV's, etc. Pregnant women and people with pace makers should use great caution when using or being near strong magnets. Please use caution and please use these magnets responsibly.
